My wife has been asking me for the longest time to write about the devil’s schemes. For a long time, what I wanted to say just wouldn’t translate through my keyboard. Satan’s greatest trick was convincing the world that he doesn’t exist. That’s it that is the message. There are so many people in this world that don’t believe in God or the devil. With that being said, just because someone doesn’t believe it doesn’t mean that they’re not real. That’s like former Pres. Trump saying Covid-19 is a hoax yet millions of people all over the globe have been affected by it. So in our obliviousness how many times have we fallen for the devils plan to derail our lives. I think we fall for his tricks a lot more than we think but not just because he’s so devious, but because we let ourselves to be deceived. Sometimes satan can mask his evil in a nice shiny coat to make it seem like a blessing. Slowly but surely that shiny coat comes off and what’s left is a curse that’s impossible to shake off without the help of Jesus the messiah.

“But the serpent said to the woman ” You will not surely die.”” -Genesis 3:4-
Like Eve in the garden of Eden we fall prey to the machinations of the devil because more often then not we’re allowing ourselves to listen to half truths. Half truths that are meant to steer us away from God’s will. For instance when a “friend” is trying to convince you to go against your faith and ultimately against God. Their power play is usually about how good it will make feel or living in the moment because you only live once “YOLO”. The crazy thing is, they are not wrong you will feel good... for a moment but what is that moment compared to eternity? Yes we only live once, but what did we do with the time we had while we were here? Did we spread God’s word, love and will? If not then the sum of our lives amounted to nothing. This is part of the great deception and once satan gets his fingers on you it becomes easier for your actions to be steered away from God’s purpose.

“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” -John 8:44-
I for one can attest to falling for the devil’s schemes and allowing his voice to lead me astray. After more than a few losses and tragedies I had given up trying to go the right way and started doing what felt good. Let me tell you that you begin to dig holes so deep that it feels like you might just die in them. That’s part of the trick, letting you feel like your decisions are great because they benefit you in the moment, but only you. There is no God in the choices being made, no glory being given and no help being extended to others. Basically turning from the Lord and not realizing it and feeling that emptiness that has you depressed and lonely. That’s where he strikes when you’re feeling isolated and cut off from the living God. In those moments he’ll whisper all kinds of things and try to make you believe it. The devil hates humanity and works tirelessly to corrupt our souls. Look at how the world is so adamant on pushing the concept of individual truths, now look at how chaotic the world has become because of it. There is only one truth that dissipates the smokescreen of satan’s deception. The truth of the crucified and resurrected Christ Jesus.

Then Jesus said, ” Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” -Matthew 11:28-
So many times we think we’re alone in dealing with our problems and that couldn’t be further from the truth, our Lord Jesus is just a prayer away. No matter what the issue is nothing is too big or small for Him. Lean into God’s love, power and authority with all your heart and watch the great works commence. Remember the devil has already been defeated!!
