When the waters rise and my spirit quakes,
And the road ahead my courage forsakes,
I lift my eyes to the hills so steep,
From whence my help shall my soul keep.
Not in my strength, nor wisdom’s light,
But in the Lord, my refuge, my might.
The Maker of heaven, of earth and sea,
He watches over, and answers me.
In my weakness, His power is shown,
When I falter, I’m never alone.
He bends His ear to the humble plea,
And whispers, “Child, come trust in Me.”
As David sang, “You are my shield,”
In battle fierce, my heart is steeled.
For those who ask, His grace abounds,
In mercy’s stream, my hope resounds.
O Shepherd true, lead me today,
Through shadows dark, to morning’s ray.
With hands outstretched, I seek Thy face,
To find my help in Thy boundless grace.
