I used to think surrendering to Chirst meant losing. Losing control. Losing freedom. Losing myself. But what I’ve learned — and am still learning every single day — is that surrender isn’t losing at all. It’s gaining the kind of freedom that only Jesus can give.

Letting Go of the Illusion

For a long time, I tried to control everything in my life — my future, my relationships, my finances, even my pain. I thought if I held on tightly enough, things would finally fall into place. But all that “control” just left me anxious, drained, and feeling like I was never enough.

It wasn’t until I finally whispered, “Lord, I can’t do this anymore. Take it,” that I felt peace rush in — the kind of peace the world can’t give or take away.

Jesus wasn’t lying when He said:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest…” (Matthew 11:28)

The moment I let go of trying to run my own life, I found rest.

The Freedom I Didn’t Expect

I thought surrendering to God meant giving up my dreams, my desires, and my independence. What I didn’t expect was the freedom that came with it:

  • Freedom from the fear of “what if.”
  • Freedom from always striving to be perfect.
  • Freedom from carrying shame I was never meant to carry.

Paul said it best in Galatians 2:20:

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”

The “me” that was constantly worried, anxious, and trying to fix everything — that version of me died the moment I truly surrendered. And in its place, I found joy and purpose I never thought possible.

Surrender Is a Daily Thing

Here’s the thing — surrender isn’t something I did once and checked off a list. It’s something I have to do every day.

Every morning I try to pray, “Lord, today is Yours. Lead me where You want me to go. Take what I can’t handle. Use me for Your glory.”

Some days, surrender is easy. Other days, I fight to let go. But every single time I choose to lay it down, God shows me that His plan is always better than mine.

An Invitation for You

Maybe you’re holding onto something right now — a situation you can’t fix, a dream you’re scared to release, or a burden that feels too heavy. I’ve been there.

But let me tell you — the moment you hand it over to Jesus, everything changes.

Try it today. Even if it’s just a whisper:
“Lord, I surrender this to You. I trust You with my life.”

It’s in those moments of surrender that you’ll find a freedom the world could never give — the kind of freedom that only comes from letting go and letting Him lead.

No matter where you are in your journey, remember this — surrender isn’t a one-time thing; it’s a daily walk with Jesus. Every time you let go, you make room for Him to move in ways you never imagined. So keep trusting, keep seeking, and most of all… don’t forget to keep Chasing God’s way/ve.
